Summer Hours

Quote

The library will be closed on Monday, May 28th for Memorial Day.  When we re-open on Tuesday, May 29th, we will begin our summer hours. They are:

Mondays: 10 – 5
Tuesdays: 10 – 5
Wednesdays: 10 – 5
Thursdays: 12 – 7
Fridays: 11 – 5
Every other Saturday:  9 – 12
(June 2, 16, 23, July 14, 28, August 11, 25)

On Saturdays, the computer lab will be closed.  Wifi will still be accessible.  This is a trial run at being open on Saturdays.  If we have people using the library, we will keep the Saturday hours and perhaps expand them.

What is all this Geek stuff?

Geek the Library is a public awareness campaign funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The purpose is to raise public awareness of the importance of libraries in communities.

Geek as a verb? Yes! To geek something means that you have an intense passion for it. You geek something you love, something you know a lot about, or something that you promote.

So why is the library important? Everyone is passionate about something—everyone ‘geeks’ something—and the public library supports it all. (And you will find people who are excited to tell you what they geek.)

A library cannot exist without its community. Without people and ideas, a library is just a storehouse of books. Without you we would have no reason to be here and our lives would be much more boring. We would like to think that you would miss us if we weren’t here.

We hope that you geek GPW library!
